Amir hails judiciary’s key role

HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited the Supreme
Judicial Council on Sunday evening to mark the holy month of Ramadan. He was
accompanied by HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah,
Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah and senior officials. They
were welcomed by SJC President and President of the Court of Cassation Dr Adel
Bouresli, Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait and Acting Undersecretary of the
Ministry of Justice Tareq Ali Al-Asfour.
HH the Amir praised the judiciary as “the mainstay of justice and stability” in
Kuwait and a source of pride, affirming that “nobody has authority over judges”.
He urged judges to uphold the rule of law, act impartially and safeguard rights
and freedoms. HH the Amir called for faster Kuwaitization of judicial roles,
rulings to reflect fear of Allah and quicker case resolutions.
HH the Amir also lauded the increasing participation of women in the judiciary
as a key step toward gender equality. He expressed hope for legislation to
modernize judicial work, streamline litigation and advance digitization. He
described the judiciary and executive branches as “two wings of leadership”
serving the people under the constitution. He concluded by extending best wishes
to the judiciary and the Kuwaiti people.
